Android 2.2 to offer Tethering?
posted by The Tech Buzz on May.13, 2010, under News
Details surrounding the newest version of the Android OS 2.2 are sketchy, especially since google is trying to play apple and keep things under wraps. Code named Fro-Yo named after yogurt, is the latest rendition of the operating systems from google named after deserts. Android 2.2 is expected to arrive at the I/O Conference on May 19th and 20th. Phones running this version of the OS will be able to tether via USB or act as a wireless hotspot for other wifi enabled devices! I am seriously thinking of getting an android device over the iPhone just for this. I can get internet anywhere on my iPad without having to pay the additional fees. Makes sense right? Come on apple, step up your game! One this is still unclear, and that is if cellular carriers will charge a premium for the tethering (which I’m sure they will). Overall there will be a performance boost in OS 2.2 as well as full adobe flash support. It is still uncertain which phones will run the OS. The nexus one being a prime target for this OS. It may take a while for those phones running customized versions of Android OS like the HTC Incredible to run the OS. That’s all for now, Until next time, Keep it Buzzin’
