AKG K272 HD Headphones Review

posted by The Tech Buzz on Jan.15, 2010, under New Products

I’ve been searching for a pair of over the ear headphones for a while and have tried many, many pairs. But had no luck since all the pairs I’ve bought hurt after wearing for long periods of time. I’ve found that they don’t quite fit when you put them on and they press on your ear and after 5 hours (normal shows) my ears would hurt really really bad. Until now. The company AKG was gracious in sending me out the AKG K272 HD headphones and my first initial response after un boxing them was, “Wow these things are light!” In fact they are light and very comfortable. Sound quality is good but the number one thing when searching for headphones for me to use for a show is comfort. The comfort is there as they have velvet housings surrounding the padding that goes over the ear, unlike the other brands where it’s leather. The clarity these headphones have is unbelievable. At first I have to be honest, I thought they can’t be much different than any other headset. When I first put them on, there wasn’t really a “WOW” factor in audio. It wasn’t until I put the old ones back on and other pairs of headphones that I use for different things throughout the day that I really began to appreciate them. The clarity that they bring is unbelievable. The bass response as well as the mids is quite evident. while not sounding tinny with the highs. The durable band made of a polymer type plastic is very flexible with their self adjusting ability. Retailing over the board for $375 these headphones are a win and a must for serious studio workers and broadcasters. Thanks to AKG for providing the best headphones to date. Until next time, Keep it buzzin’
