2010 Announcement

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.31, 2009, under News

Not for us bloggers, and internet pioneers. We are looking past the new year, past CES (which is the week of Jan 8th) looking towards January 26th. Why do you say is that marked in everyone’s iCal synced across their devices or Google apps you ask? I will tell you. It has been confirmed that Apple has reserved a conference hall in San Francisco to announce what they are calling a “Big” event. Now past history has proven. These events, namely Macworld have been the center stage for these such announcements. Announcements such as hardware updates, Software updates, iPhone updates. This year is different. Since announcing last year, Apple will no longer be a part of Macworld Expo, we all wondered when such products would be announced. Would we have to wait for WWDC? Apple has shocked the world yet again and has clarified the circumvented rumors regarding it’s long awaited tablet or iSlate. Is this the day we hear finally from apple that the past six years of development for what we the public are calling the iSlate becomes reality? Will it be another disappointment and just be some software/hardware minor upgrade/updates? Will it be an iPhone update announcement like the recent rumors of a 5 mega pixel camera? Insiders have said Steve is very happy with the “tablet” and it’s finally ready. Sources also have indicated that this may be Steve Jobs’s final major announcement as Apple’s CEO. Either way, 2010 is already starting to be an exciting start in the technology world. Please leave comments about your thoughts or insights! I’ll keep you posted as recent developments surface. Until next time, Keep it buzzin’

Fox + Time Warner – agreement = Possibly No More Fox?

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.29, 2009, under News

For those of you out there who are Football addicts or dare I say, American Idol fans the news surfacing around the web is that Fox and Time Warner are in a bit of dismay. Fox wants a dollar ($1) more per subscriber and Time Warner agreed to pay half ($.50). Which mean you, I the subscribers will pay $.50 more on our bill to have our precious Fox network. Some say they wont pay it. Others say give it to me! I say what’s the problem? Why is there supposedly no agreement yet on this story? If you remember last year Time Warner had the same “problem” with MTV/Nickelodeon and such and not coming to an agreement. Yet we still have these channels. My view on all this. They are just prepping you for a cost increase for cable TV, with everyone turning to the web for content and shows, cable providers are loosing money. So what better way to find out if the public will pay for their precious channels, then to conjure up a story about “non agreement,” Come on guys do we have ID10T written on our foreheads? I am currently a Time Warner Subscriber. For how long, who knows? What are your thoughts? Leave comments! I’d love to hear your thoughts! Until next time, Keep it buzzin’

WordPress 2.9 Update

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.21, 2009, under News

A fellow community member sent me an email with the updated features in 2.9 so I suggest everyone update.

  • Global undo/”trash” feature, which means that if you accidentally delete a post or comment you can bring it back from the grave (i.e., the Trash). This also eliminates those annoying “are you sure” messages we used to have on every delete.
  • Built-in image editor allows you to crop, edit, rotate, flip, and scale your images to show them who’s boss. This is the first wave of our many planned media-handling improvements.
  • Batch plugin update and compatibility checking, which means you can update 10 plugins at once, versus having to do multiple clicks for each one, and we’re using the new compatibility data from the plugins directory to give you a better idea of whether your plugins are compatible with new releases of WordPress. This should take the fear and hassle out of upgrading.
  • Easier video embeds that allow you to just paste a URL on its own line and have it magically turn it into the proper embed code, with Oembed support for YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket, PollDaddy, and WordPress.tv (and more in the next release).

    Donations

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.20, 2009, under News

Now first off I want to say a big THANK YOU! To those that donated the other night during my live broadcast. The topic got started in the chat room by Rob from corndogcomputers that people should donate and help support the show in order to get the stream out on the web quicker! By the end of the night I’m pleased to announce that I have received $253 in donations! Personally I am not one to come on and beg for money. I know a lot of other shows will guilt trip you or whatever but I believe that if you like what I’m doing and would like to see improvements then you will support the show. Even if it is $5 or $1. That little bit adds up over time. I have huge plans for the show, but it will take money, it will take hardware, and it will take time. I’m ready for that. But it’s nice to see the community pitch in and help. I am coming up on 2 years in March and OH what a road I’ve been down. Good news is the future looks bright! I’m ready to move forward and if you want to contribute in this moving forward. Just look on this page and click on the “Donate” button. Thanks. Until next time “Keep it Buzzin!”
