New Security Threat?

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.31, 2008, under News

Anyone-using Internet mail such as YahooHotmail,

AOL and so on.

This information arrived this morning,
Direct from both Microsoft and Norton

You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled   ‘Mail Server Report’

If you open eith er file, a message will appear on your screen saying:
‘It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.’

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC,
And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your
name, e-mail and password.

This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.
AOLhas  already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software’s are not capable of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself
‘life owner’.

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES.

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/mailserver.asp

Guys if you get this email, ignore it, its a hoax. As pointed out by snopes.com this has been going around for a while. I’m beginning to wonder if the email itself was the virus…

Until next time, keep it buzzin’

Macbook Touch … Fall of 09′ ?

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.31, 2008, under News

It’s been reported by 3 of Apples closest contacts that they will be releasing sometime in the fall of 09′ what is being called a Macbook Touch. Basically it will be a large form of an iPod touch from what experts are saying. Between 7-9″ screen. Prototypes have been seen and handled by a select few. Apple is looking to Asia to mass produce these products. Again I want to state that this is strictly a rumor, but with recent developments of apples patent on multi-gesturing, one could only assume that it will play a significant role in this possible product. If this product does deem true, what is this going to say for the “net book” industry? Will cost play a huge role? Will this be a consumers “Must Have” Christmas item of 09′? I will keep you informed when new developments are found. Until then Keep it buzzin’

As of midnight tonight or Jan 1st 2009 it is slated that Viacom and Time Warner/Brighthouse to eliminate all 19 Viacom channels. This could spell disaster for all your kids. Apple to release Apple TV software for any mac?

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.29, 2008, under News

It’s been rumored that Apple is going to release Apple TV software for any of your macs. Obviously there will be system requirements, but still. There have been reports that it will cost 0-$99 dollars and possibly only macs with mini display ports. There have also been reports that the Apple TV software to be adding a special gaming section for the app store and such. Is this really going to happen? Is this going to anger the people that have spent the $250 dollars for Apple TV. Now my thinking is why apple never implemented this with the mac mini? I mean it had all the qualifications of a media center, in fact that’s what I would use mine for if I didn’t stream with it 24/7. I know it will be software that I will be purchasing this software anyways. So if they do come out with this, expect a review. Until then Keep it buzzin!

Microsoft and Pre Paid Computers?

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.29, 2008, under News

Microsoft said today that they are going to be making a pay as you go computer, which in the end could cost the user more. So is it worth it? Doesn’t rent-a-center do that already? I mean lets face it. That would be like leasing a car. It’s more money in the end. Again is this another instance of cloud computing? Is this a trick of Microsoft? With the economy the way it is people affording a computer in a pay as you go, app or computer? Why is it that Microsoft is the only one really talking about an operating system in the clouds? These are huge questions I’m wanting to have answers to these questions. Now what about from the ISP stand point? With all the capping going on, could we see this as being very economical? I personally think Microsoft is making a huge mistake. I would also say that about Apple or Linux if they were heading that route. Anyways would you guys do that? Leave me comments on what you think? Here are a few links of possible Office 14 in the clouds?

iPhones $99 dollars?

posted by The Tech Buzz on Dec.28, 2008, under News

$99 iPhone 3G 8gig

$99 iPhone 3G 8gig

AT&T has announced that they will begin selling refurbished iPhones for $99 dollars. How awesome is that! This should boost iPhone sales by double and possibly tripling sales in 2009. Yes this iPhone is the 3g and the $99 dollars is for the 8 gig model and $199 for the 16 gig models.

Now for those of you that never purchased refurbished items they are just as good if not better than brand new, simply because they have taken apart and rebuilt with brand new components. You get the same warranties and such as brand new iPhones. This is a great buy for the expense minded techie.

Now with all that said, could it be possible that apple is preparing to release an upgraded iPhone? What I mean by that is, apple seems to release the iPhone upgrades silently then boom we have the upgrade. Is apple preparing to release the 16 gig and 32 gig line? These questions and remarks are just are my own thoughts and not anyone else’s. I would love to see for the larger storage iPhone 3G. After that I may consider upgrading my iPhone first generation. Until later, Keep it buzzin’

Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000

Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000

I’m writing to tell you guys about the recent addition to the show. Yesterday I told you guys that I had bought some studio lighting. Well today, I bought the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 which I am implementing into my stream as Cam number 2. Although this might be Cam number 1 and the DV cam will stay as number 2.

Now time for my thoughts. I like the fact that its small and compact. What I don’t like is that you don’t have control over the exposure or brightness settings on the mac. Now if I was running it on my windows box, there would be no problems whatsoever. I think there should be some kind of software to allow control over this on the mac.

Now it runs smoothly on the mac, just plugged it in and worked no problems no conflicts and puts a rather great image. Here are the specs for anyone thinking about purchasing it. Now it retails at $99.99 at retail stores but I know you can get it cheaper on the web allot cheaper.

It has a Carl Zeiss Optics

Autofocus Lens

HD Video (Capture Up to 1600 X 1200)

Up to 8 Megapixel Photos

Microphone with RightSound Technology

Up to 30 Frames per Second Video

USB 2.0 High Speed Certified

Logitech QuickCam Software (with Video Effects Filters, Avatars, and Face Accessories)

Universal Clip (for Flat Panel, Notebook, CRT, or Desktop Use)

Works with Skype , Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo, AOL and other compatible instant messaging applications

All in all I think this is a great camera. So if you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to stop by the chat room or email me. Keep it buzzin!
